It’s Valentine’s month, so what better way to kick off the month than a review of a romance trilogy? If you’re perpetually single like I am, then you’re probably already annoyed by the big day (even though it’s still a full week out) and simultaneously longing for that spark of romance for yourself. Well, in my opinion, this series is the perfect way to celebrate solo! In this review, I break down my opinion on each of the three novels, and then give my overall opinion at the end, so be sure to keep reading!
I really liked this story! It was steamy (though not as much as I was anticipating), and really sweet. I really liked the relationships that were portrayed between the main female characters, it was the perfect introduction to all of the females that are featured in their own books throughout the rest of the series.
I thought that Logan was utterly adorable. Unfortunately this book suffered from one of my biggest pet peeves – she spelled out his accent. I hate when a character has an accent and the author decides to spell out all or some of their lines phonetically instead of the correct spelling. It irritates me to try and figure out what word they’re really saying – I feel like I’m back in kindergarten and learning how to read for the first time.
That being said, the rest of this book was really great! Melonie Johnson did a great job with describing the world around these characters. I instantly felt like I knew exactly where they were, and I was drawn into the story. This relationship was utterly adorable, and I loved the build up and growth of these two characters.
I have never rooted for a couple more than I rooted for Bonnie and Theo. The attraction between these two has been growing since the first novel, and I was so excited when I saw that they were going to be the featured couple in the second novel.
Bonnie’s character development throughout this novel was really great to see. You get to see her grow from a super self-conscious girl with an asshole fiance, to a strong, independent woman who is sure of herself and of what she wants. I liked this one even better than the first!
I thought that this one was not quite as good as Smitten by The Brit, or Getting Hot With The Scot. That being said, it’s still a really adorable story! Going into this one, I was already a little peeved – I’m a perfectionist, so it bothered me that the title of this one didn’t have the same witty alliteration that the first two did. It didn’t seem to fit for me. However, the story more than made up for it.
Instead of finding a handsome man while on an adventure abroad, this one follows our main character, Sadie, reconnecting with her lost love from high school. It was a little predictable at times, but I didn’t find that to be a bad thing. I was kept charmed throughout the whole thing.
Overall Series Thoughts!
Overall, this series is really adorable. All of the couples are perfectly matched, and go through several ups and downs before they are able to settle out and find a way to work through their issues. I was really happy to see that each book tied in to the ones before it, but not so much that it FELT like a sequel, and it didn’t read as three stand-alones either – it was really nicely balanced.
I think that my favorite of the three has to be Smitten By The Brit, but both of the others were wonderfully crafted and fit into the series perfectly. This series has an overall score of Four Stars for me! It was really adorable!
